GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Built in 1755 by George Mason, author of the Virginia Declaration of Rights and framer of the U. S. Constitution. House designed by William Buckland contains rococo carvings and Chippendale ornamentation. The furnishings are English and American antiques.
PARKING: 6 wheelchair accessible parking spaces.
TYPES OF PATHS: Brick, gravel and grass.
ENTRANCE: 6 steps, each 6 inches in height. Handrails on left and right. Entry door, 40 inches wide, is opened by guide. 21 steps inside lobby, to second level. Ramped side entrance for visitors with mobility impairments.
PUBLIC REST ROOMS: In staff office area. Doors are 27 inches wide. Turns to enter. Single-user rest room has handrails, accessible sink and commode.
SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with hearing impairments, there is a written tour of house and out buildings, and orientation film is open-captioned.
For guests with visual impairments, there is photo guide of museum exhibits with large print labels.
For guests with mobility impairments, there is a photo guide of museum exhibits.
MUSEUM SHOP: Aisles 44-56 inches wide.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Admission: Adults $5, Seniors $4, Students (grades K-12) $1.50. First tour at 9:30AM, last tour begins at 4:30PM daily. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Days. Tours are given for the first floor. Visitors may visit the second level and the outbuildings on their own, including kitchen, dairy, smokehouse, laundry and school house. Short film shown in visitor center on the first floor is accessible to wheelchairs.

Approx 6 miles east of Woodbridge and Lorton, VA. Travel 4 miles east on State Route 242 (Gunston Road) off U. S. Route 1. Turn right onto High Point Road to enter park.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Hiking, bird watching, picnicking and more in remote scenic northern Virginia locale.
PARKING: 5 wheelchair accessible parking spaces. Located at Visitor Center, park office and picnic area.
TYPES OF PATHS: Concrete sidewalk to Visitor Center, park office, and to public rest rooms.
ENTRANCE TO VISITOR CENTER: Doors, 72 inches wide, open out. Front and rear glass doors. Office door is 36 inches wide opening out.
PUBLIC REST ROOMS: In picnic area. Doors are 36 inches wide, open in. Turns to enter. Accessible stalls have 36 inch wide doors opening out and handrails. Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions. Rest room in Visitor Center is equipped as above, and is available for public use when the facility is open.
PUBLIC TELEPHONE: Wheelchair accessible phone.
SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with mobility impairments, hiking trails offer short, non-strenuous walks. The Kanes Creek trail has an observation blind for visitors to look for waterfowl and other wildlife.
PICNIC AREAS: 0.25 mile from Visitor Center. Picnic areas have tables for guests in wheelchairs, fireplace grills and trash receptacles.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Visitor Center is open 10AM-6PM from April-Octpber. Pets welcome, but must be on leash. Modest parking fee. Vehicles displaying handicapped license plates or plaques not charged. Programs interpret the water, woodlands and area wildlife, with emphasis on the Bald Eagles which inhabit the area.
